Introductions of Invasive Alien Species are considered as the second major cause of biodiversity loss, and pose major threats to human societies. Given that these introductions are caused by human activities, it is important to understand them so as to prevent them.

  • Introduction and invasion risks

By studying invasive species distributions and climatic niches, we can identify areas that are at-risk of introductions or spread, especially in the face of climate change.

  • Invasive Alien Species impacts

Invasive Alien Species can have tremendous impacts on biodiversity and human societies. In 2014, I conceived the database on the global economic costs of invasive alien insects. The objective was to provide a scientifically robust and comprehensive estimation of their economic costs to human societies. We are now working on expanding this work to all groups of Invasive Alien Species
